August 31st, 2009: I Love Patintero

I love pantintero. It’s like this nostalgia-inducing awesomeness. No, it’s not a drug, it’s a sport. And it’s probably the most extreme sport I have ever played in my life, which goes to show that I’m as physically active as a three-toed sloth…
But anyway, what is this “patintero” thingie I’m babbling about? Patintero is a famous Filipino street game and it’s better than badminton (the only sport that I actually – legitimately – play). I know comparing any sports to badminton will automatically make that sport sound lame, but I can assure you, patintero is not lame. It’s just that I don’t really have any other sports in my arsenal to compare patintero to; just badminton. My muscular memory agrees. Think: three-toed sloth.
Playing patintero brings back a whole lotta good memories about my childhood! It’s got Philippines written all over it. Ah, good times – the time when things were simply good.
If you want to learn more about patintero, I’ll leave the googling to you because I don’t plan on explaining the rules here. All I want to accomplish with this entry is to share my love for pantintero, and I think I’ve done just that.
But just in case I have not…
I love patintero.
Love, love, love, love, love.
Love. Love.
LOVE…
Ok, I’m starting to sound like Ben Stiller.
Bye.
