The year is coming to an end. All I can say is that, 2009 has been pretty good to me. Although it was a year of changes and challenges, I cannot complain. 2009 was truly one blessed year and I have no one else to thank but God. I thank God for all the obstacles, as much as I thank Him for all the blessings that He has given me this year.
If I could sum up 2009 in a word, that word would be: thanksgiving.
Anyway, listed below are the highlights of 2009. Click on the links below to expand a specific point:
I celebrated the first day of 2009 in California with my mom’s sister, her family and my grandma. Counting down the last seconds of 2008 with my grandmother was very emotional. Let’s leave it at that, because I don’t want to cry now. Also, I spent the rest of my New Year’s Day cruising around San Francisco, one of my most favourite cities. It was splendid, indeed.
Since I was part of TAGA, I was able to get an almost free trip to N’awlins! New Orleans was a great place, but I don’t think I’ll ever go back…just because…
“Freedom!” Or so I thought. Then I actually started working…and yeah, little did I know, I was mocking myself. I don’t know who gave me the idea that after school, everything will be good and relaxed. Anyway, the last hours of my being an undergrad was definitely momentous. I cherished every single second of it and I spent these seconds, minutes and hours with the people who helped me get through my four years of post-secondary madness =]
New York, New York. It was great to finally visit the city that never sleeps. I thank MNU for graciously accommodating my stay there. You’re awesome! I plan to visit again this coming year. Those lights, the skyscrapers, the museums, the people – everything – highly addictive.
After 17 years of schooling, I can finally say, school and I are dunzo! But then again, school, in spite of all the “dramas” (in elementary of course, I’ve been drama-free or ‘dramaphobic’ since), heartaches, sleepless nights, sweat and tears, I miss it oodles. I think I’ll go back to school again. For what? That, I have yet to find out.
I was a little iffy about going to this concert. I bought the tickets because the seats were decent. Anyway, it was actually pretty amazing! The show was truly a spectacle and they’re an awesome band live. Kudos to The Killers and mucho respect! Also, I saw the show with MO =]
Considering that I’m the greatest stalker on earth, I was able to spot both George Clooney and Matt Damon at the TIFF this year (with TL, of course). Yes. I’m a real go-getter. I got both their autographs and I’m a loser. Thank you.
Went to see Coupland…again. The first time was back in ’07, when The Gum Thief came out. His latest book, Generation A, was quite a read. I liked it, a lot. It’s a must read.
My mom and dad celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year. They renewed their vows and I’m so proud of them. Of course, we celebrated it…Filipino-style! Cheesiness? Check! Awesomeness? Double-check! Lotsa laughs? Triple Check!
When KN and AF asked me to become one of the godmothers to their firstborn son, I was beyond honoured. Plus, I really like the kid, so this really help end my year in such a high note.
My name is Denise and according to Urban Dictionary, Denise means, "ghetto fab sistah from anotha mistah..." and so on and so forth.
In reality, I'm not that awesome.
